About Us
We offer a lot and in return we expect you to make a reasonable commitment to Air Cadets. You’ll be interested in aviation and possibly thinking about a career in the RAF, although that’s certainly not a requirement – we are not a recruitment organisation! You’ll be self motivated and willing to take a disciplined approach to life, while having a lot of fun.
Boys and Girls are equally welcome. Some of our best cadets are young ladies so don’t think that Air Cadets is just for the lads!
In order to join the Air Cadets you must be aged between 12 and 17. We recommend joining as soon as you can so that you can get the absolute most out of your time in the Air Cadets.
We do all sorts of activies but here is a few that we have done recently:
- Building a large scale model aeroplane, Flight Simulator and Electronics/Radio are the current projects we do but we’re always on the lookout for more
- Flight simulator: We are building a fully featured flight sim and some of our cadets are becoming quite expert pilots!
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
- First Aid training
- Weapons handling training and target shooting
- Powered flying in Grob Tutors at RAF Leeming
- Gliding at RAF Topcliffe
- Barbeque evening
- Sports nights
- Overseas and UK Camps
Want to Join? Why not! Just come along to one of our parade evenings (Monday or Friday) from 7:00 – 9:00. You can meet some of our cadets and have a chat with the Squadron Commander, Squadron Leader S Dunnet (RAFAC). This map shows where you can find us:
